Vili Raato emerges from the backstage, spitting and shouting into the booing audience as he makes his way into the ring. Sami Korhonen describes his wrestling persona as sadistic, violent, self-centered and brutal. “I almost exclusively think about negative thoughts when I’m Vili”, Sami calmly explains.
Despite the negative thoughts, Sami convinces that portraying his wrestling persona has helped him with his self-confidence and has allowed him to express himself.
Sami discovered the world of professional wrestling when he was six years old, he got a wrestling figurine from a gas station. Ever since that, professional wrestling has been Sami’s escape from the world, from his alcohol addicted mother, from being bullied in school and from depression. “Wrestling saved me”, Sami tells me.
